Chicken and Sons – World Square, Liverpool St, Sydney CBD, NSW
Unfortunately they have shut down at this location, but GOOD NEWS! They are in 3 other locations as shown below. Lilyfield, Marrickville, and Surry Hills.
I’m giving Chicken & Sons 8 fried chickens out of 10… but reserving the right to adjust that once I’ve chowed down on more of their chickeny goodness.
We ate at Chicken and Sons with the interstate cousins and let me say from the outset we know we haven’t done their menu justice. This was one of those occasions that I almost didn’t write a blog but instead wait for a second visit before doing so.
But I’m going to write one about this experience but then definitely go back another time and try more of their offerings. So heads up, there may be a second Chicken and Sons blog sometime in the future.
We had a large group there, around 13 of us including kids. So we thought the easiest thing to do would be to get a couple of their whole BBQ chickens to share. Plus we’d get a bunch of chips for the fussy eaters… the children.

Chicken and Sons serve their whole BBQ Chickens either Jerked or Seasoned so we ordered one of each.
The consensus seemed to be that although both were great the Jerked was the one that would win if the 2 had a head to head battle.
But here’s the thing, if you want to take your Chicken & Sons chicken to the next level give that accompanying slice of citrus a squeeze. Here’s what happened, we were chewing away at their chicken, stuffing our faces, trying the sides, going great guns. But then brother Colin had noticed that there was no citrus squeezing going on.
He grabbed some more chicken and squeezed away only to then force us all to go ahead and do the same. Boom! It was amazing. Eat it as designed children and it will take it to a new level.

Their sides were great too, indulge yourself and grab a good variety.
I had to add a sneaky burger too to give one a go of course. I went for their C & S Signature Buttermilk Fried, as, you know, it’s their signature burger so a good place to start.

It was a really good burger and a great place to start, although next time I’m definitely going for something bigger, with way more calories and sauces and ingredients. I look forward to it.

So unfortunate that this store is now closed! This was my favourite goto place for chicken burgers! Lucky they still have a branch in Surry Hills nearby.
